Notice – Addition of used vehicles to the Roulez vert Program

Used vehicles have been eligible for the Roulez vertprogram since April 1, 2019. However, some of the conditions applicable to vehicles registered on or after April 18, 2019 differ from those set out in the used electric vehicle pilot program, which ended on March 31, 2019.

Vehicles registered on or after April 18, 2019:

  • no longer need to be covered by a warranty of at least three years or 40,000 km from the date of registration in the applicant’s name;
  • no longer need to have undergone a full inspection and have been certified by an automaker or an independent car dealer;
  • must still be inspected to assess the battery’s residual capacity.

The website will be updated in the coming days to reflect these changes.

Please read the detailed applicant’s manual PDF (in French only) to learn about the conditions and terms of the pilot project.

The applicant

Individuals, businesses, municipalities and organizations can participate in the used vehicle pilot project.

Rebate transaction and registration

The transaction must be carried out by a car dealer with an establishment Québec. For example, it is not possible to obtain the rebate for a transaction carried out between individuals. The car dealership has no obligation to be tied to an automaker.

The vehicle must be registered in the applicant’s name between April 1, 2017 and March 31, 2019.

The vehicle must be registered for the first time in Québec. It must, therefore, come from outside Québec and never have received financial assistance as a new vehicle under the Roulez vert program - Roulez électrique component. The vehicle can come from the United States, Ontario or any other territory other than Québec.

Attribution of the rebate

NEW: If you wish to obtain your rebate from the car dealer at the time of the transaction, you must first register for our online services (in French only) and create your user profile. Please remember to enter all the requested information in your profile (your contact information, mailing address, etc.).

Are you a new user?  Read our online help for instructions on how to create your profile before you visit the car dealer.

At the time of the transaction and with your authorization, your car dealer will fill out for you the application for a rebate on the used vehicle. He will make sure your online service user profile has been created, he will check your eligibility under the pilot project and confirm the exact amount of the rebate offered.

Your car dealer must attach to your application:

Once the form has been completed, your car dealer will ask you to sign one copy of the transfer of rights form. Your signature will confirm that you authorize the government to pay your rebate directly to your car dealer, who can then deduct the amount of the rebate from the total cost of your vehicle (including applicable fees and taxes).

Applications submitted directly by individuals

If your car dealer does not offer to immediately deduct the rebate from the price of your vehicle, you must complete the rebate application yourself. Take the time to read the detailed applicant’s manual.
